I'd be lying if I said this week's Podtoid wasn't a little on the calm side, but our two loudest cast members are missing, and Leray and I were tired from our respective trips back from GDC. Such is life.

Either way, the Podtoid crew discussed Brenda Brathwaite's Train, Portal 2, and our least favorite videogame bosses.

AARREN, Anthony, and Brad won't be joining us for this episode thanks to GDC so we told you you were getting a listener's question episode. Well too bad, you are just going to have to deal with a real show, complete with stories and news items and sports! Instead of Jim holding the helm, Samit is in control. Can he successfully run two Podtoids in a row without a derailment? Stick with us to find out about the real, mystery identity of our guest co-host, Samit failing at #quickhits, Jim playing with his Wii, Topher's time idea, dogsuit, and much more.

Oh, and there might be a listener question or two at the end.

Podtoid 140.5: Heavy Rain spoilertoid

We restrained ourselves from completely spoiling Heavy Rain's story in Monday's episode of Podtoid so that we could spoil the night away in a special Extra Gaiden Alpha episode of Podtoid.

This is that episode.

In it, we discuss our feelings toward the Heavy Rain's story and how it handles the player's agency within that story. Jim also does a Kevin Spacey impression.

Additionally, there's a bit at the very end where right before signing off, Samit says, "well, it's a quarter to midnight." Adam cut the recording there, but we went on to decide that "It's a Quarter To Midnight" was the name of Samit's Nickelback cover band, and that the next time he's at an E3 party he has to do a karaoke version of "Hero."

Podtoid 136: iPads and NPC death

There's some spoilery Mass Effect 2 talk in this week's Podtoid, but you can avoid it pretty easily: it starts at about the 45 minute mark and ends at 1:05:30. In it, we discuss the final mission of the game.

Otherwise, pretty typical podcast; really long games of the week segment, some slightly games-unrelated discussion of the iPad, and a few listener questions at the end. Hope you like it, don't really mind if you don't.

First of all: spoilers for Modern Warfare 2 and, at the very, very end, some stuff about Metal Gear Solid 4.

Second of all, this week's episode of Podtoid focuses mainly on Modern Warfare 2.
Stories about the midnight launches, our feelings about the game in
general and, ultimately, a really long discussion about the airport
massacre level.

It's got a pretty good mixture of intensely immature humor and
legitimate discussion, as most good Podtoid episodes do, so we hope you
enjoy it.

Podtoid 122: One two two

This week's episode is so named because I screwed up the episode
number in our intro. Seems to happen with alarming regularity, these
days.

This week, the regular cast minus Sterling discussed Borderlands' similarities to drugs and pornography, the leaked Modern Warfare 2 gameplay video, Netflix on the PS3, and a bunch of random listener question-related stuff.

You can, as always, listen to it here.

Podtoid 115: Techno Remixes

The problem -- and I think I've said this before in regard to fanart
header images -- the problem with having a really kickass community who
makes stuff for you is that when it comes time to share their works in
an official capacity, there are just too many. I would have loved to
include every single techno remix inspired by Podtoid 114 in this
week's episode, but I had to settle for putting Super Mega Hyper's song at the beginning. You should still check out the Podtoid forum for the rest, though.

Anyway, this week's episode is as meandering and weird as you might expect. Linde's gone, but Brad/Chet fills in quite nicely.

You can listen to the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

This
week's most interesting question, which wasn't really much of a
question but still resulted in interesting discussion and a really
horrendous quote from me, came from Tremulant. Email us at podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll send you stuff.

This week's episode is entitled "Guybrush" not necessarily because we spend much (or, indeed, any) time discussing the Monkey Island franchise, but because the last ten minutes of the episode consist of an audio interview with Dominic Armato, the voice of Guybrush Threepwood.
God, I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry.

Not just that this week's episode is a day later than it should be, but that the episode you waited an extra twenty-four hours for is so friggin' bad. I mean, it's moderately enjoyable at moments, don't get me wrong, but...Jesus.

Double Dragon, as a film, is such a weird, awful, poorly-structured catastrophe that it often defies mockery. The film includes a character, for instance, whose neck appears to be made of two giant, sweaty testicles. His name is "Bo Abobo."

Yeah. It's like that.

Modern Warfare: Big F*ckin' thing edition

Tomb Raider needs more zombies

The return of Uncle Reg

20 bucks in a box for $10

As always, subscribe to the show on iTunes to get it early, or check it
out right here. Anthony will be back next week, when we'll probably
talk about the Penn & Teller thing that skipped this week in his
absence.

It continues.

I'm as surprised as anyone that we actually
stuck to our guns and recorded another videogame movie commentary
exactly when we said we would. Either way, it's here. It's not as good
as the Street Fighter movie commentary, of course, but it's not bad. Get it here.

No
highlights this time, as the entire thing is basically just one big
running stream of weird riffs and offensive jokes. I will say that Guncannon's
"you've lost your balls" riff is as close as we can get to announcing a
best listener question. Email podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll talk.

Podtoid 104: Billy Mays here

If that header image offends you, this week's episode of Podtoid isn't going to be much more enjoyable for you. This week, the entire cast minus Samit talked about writing in videogames, Twitter etiquette, and the unusual allure of Suda 51. We also made fun of dead people.

You can listen to it here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

- Jim-as-Samit

- I've actually sort of forgotten what we talked about apart from the basic news stories

- Something about integrating writers into the production process earlier

- Then a lot of jokes about Billy Mays

- BILLY MAYS HERE

This week's most interesting question came from Kpax, if only because it allowed us to do something we never, ever, ever do: talk about Half-Life 2.

Podtoid returns after a two-week hiatus, and what do we spend the majority of the episode talking about? Brad Nicholson's guns, obviously. And some slightly tangential stuff regarding the 2009 E3 Business & Media Summit.

- Samit and Jim: BFF

- Outsourcing, motion control, and sudden sequels

- The rebirth of stealth

Hi everyone. Ashley Davis here, filling in for Anthony Burch. Not on the podcast itself, just on the posting of Podtoid 99 to the Internet. He left me with only one specific instruction: "Just use some picture of Samit for the Podtoid header." So I used this lovely piece from Dexter345 because it makes me laugh.

I don't really know what this episode entails otherwise, so no actual show notes, unfortunately. Anthony just wanted me to get this thing up for you guys, so that's what I'm doing. Hope you guys enjoy whatever this is!

There was no way Podtoid 96 would be able to adequately follow the JCVD-tacular heights Podtoid 95 achieved last week. That will surprise no one. Still, despite the absence of Raul Julia, we managed to make do.

- Can a player-driven story be legitimately affecting on the same level as scripted stories?

Our commentary is but a flickering candle to the blazing sun of genius that is the Street Fighter movie.

icarus wins the question contest for this week -- though considering much of the film includes Raul Julia walking around in a bright red cape acting like a comic book version of Stalin, I'd say we all win.

Podtoid 91: Aaron Linde Fan Art

This week's Podtoid is almost completely unlike last week's -- it's varied, unstructured, and not even remotely pretentious the majority of the time. Also, both Linde and Samit are on it, which is nice.
- Make sure to get your hands on a copy of the 1997 Street Fighter movie for next week's episode

- The above art was made by Luke Barnard

- BioShock 2 crap

- Destructoid community lovefest

- The joke that isn't a joke

- No after-show conversations because the show was so damn long to begin with

The best question this week came from Darth Kupi, because it gave us all a chance to vent and make jokes at someone else's expense. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail.com and we'll send your Dtoid swag bag forthwith.

Podtoid 89: We told you so

The games of the week segment, which usually only takes up five minutes, comprises almost half of the entire episode. One of the two news topics we were to discuss is shortened to a single sentence.
This episode is about two things: penises and toucans. Though not necessarily in that order.

Go here to listen to the new Podtoid. Jim, Topher, Samit, and myself are in it. And Adam Dork talks, like, twice. Highlights include:

- We spoil Destructoid Discusses for this week

- Linde isn't there

- Linde is there

- Fighting game schools of thought: manual dexterity vs intuitive strategy

All the old Podtoids are now available for torrent

Howdy, kids. It's my pleasure to announce that, following some weird iTunes holocaust, all our old episodes are once again available for download!

This torrent and this one comprise the first twenty episodes of Podtoid, when it was still hosted by Rob Summa.

21-30: Ba da BING

31-40: Ba da BANG

Those three episode packs cover the transition from Summa to Nex, then (I think) to Linde.

51-60

If you ever want to feel suicidal for about two hours straight, just ask Brad Nicholson what he did when he woke up. Just ask him. Around the time he's finished throwing out phrases like "four hundreth sit-up," you will truly understand just how abysmal your own body is.

And then you will begin to masturbate.

This week, Brad joined the regular cast to talk about a whole cavalcade of stuff. You can listen here, as always. Highlights included:

- Linde love Siegelpuns

- The end of EGM

- Bob (of Bob's Game) is potentially a genius of the highest order

- Nintendo wants to give you the option to watch your games rather than play them

- Muscle Corner with Brad Nicholson

It's almost 2009, and BonerQuest is out. These are the two main things we talk about on Podtoid 81, though sadly not as much of the latter as you're probably wishing for.

This week, the reg'lar cast (being Topher, Jim, Aaron, and myself) talked about the following, which can be listened to here:

- Brad Nicholson is more ripped than you will ever be in your entire life

- Sting is metal

- We unveil Chad Concelmo's Super Secret Dtoid GOTY voting process

- The best, worst, most disappointing, and most interesting games of 2008

- A precursor to a larger BonerQuest discussion

We ended up discussing most of the listener questions this week in our regular discussion, but randombullseye wins just because BonerQuest finally came out. Email your shipping details to (reverendanthony [a t] gmail [d ot] com) and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag.

Another new Podtoid this week -- with emphasis on the new. We've got new hosting, a new Valve game to play, and a new home for our own Jim Sterling. I'm tempted to make some sort of joke about episode 77 having a "new podcast smell," but that sort of stuff is really overplayed.

Anyway. Jim, Aaron, Topher and I talked about PETA, the NXE, and the anniversary of Half-Life. Since we're now being hosted by the GamerCast Network, you can now listen to the show here, or subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include:

- Space Invaders Extreme is surprisingly literal

- Adam Dork, voice of an angel

- Director AI: great for campaigns, less great for versus

- Jim Sterling says the best thing you've ever heard

- Topher Cantler doesn't give a free pass to the phrase, "free pass"

- After being forced to, we find fault with Valve

Roughly half of our Valve discussions were based of Zcdrike's question, so he gets the cool swag. Send an email to reverendanthony [a t] gmail [ d o t ] com and we'll send you some stuff.

[The song is "Comfort Eagle" by Cake.]

Podtoid 76: More like ten sh*tloads

On this week's Podtoid, 3/4 of the cast do a simultaneous Cole Train impression which should, by any logic, cause some sort of rift in the space-time continuum.

You can listen to the new episode here, or subscribe to us on iTunes, or do the RSS thing, or just hire someone to bother you every week and tell you that the new episode is uploaded. Highlights include:

- All dat juice

- Take as much time as you need, Dom

- Scratch one grub

- NICE!

- Have you seen my wife?

- A GIANT WORM IS SINKING THE CITY

The most interesting question this week came from hystericswitch. Send me an email and we'll send you swag.
